Graduation Information

 

Mapletown Junior-Senior High School Gymnasium

Wednesday,  May 30, 2012 @ 7:00 p.m.

Commencement                                                                                                                                                Exercise
The Commencement ceremony for the class of 2012 will be held indoors at Mapletown Junior-Senior High School gymnasium starting at 7:00 p.m.  Graduation tickets are required for family/friends to sit in the floor seating area in the gymnasium.  Doors will open to the public at 5:30 p.m.  Graduates must report no later than 6:00 p.m.  Graduates must enter the high school through the side doors to the cafeteria nearest the football field.  The ceremony should last approximately one hour and fifteen minutes. 

 

Graduation Tickets
Graduating seniors will receive 4 tickets, for floor seating in the gymnasium, for family or friends to attend the Commencement ceremony.  All other guests do not need a ticket to sit in the bleachers.  Graduating seniors DO NOT need a ticket to attend.  Graduates will receive their tickets at the graduation rehearsal.  No tickets will be given out to parents or siblings of the graduate.  It is the responsibility of the graduate to distribute the tickets to friends and family they wish to attend. No tickets will be given out prior to the rehearsal.  Lost tickets cannot be replaced.

 

Graduation Rehearsal
Attendance at the rehearsal is MANDATORY for seniors participating in the Commencement ceremony.  Rehearsal will be held at Mapletown High School on Thursday, May 24, 2012, and Friday, May 25, 2012.  A light breakfast will be served on Friday.  Generally, there will be no exceptions to the rule that attendance at rehearsal is mandatory in order to participate in the Commencement ceremony.  For questions regarding rehearsal attendance please contact Ms. Haywood at (724) 943-3401.


Appropriate Dress
Students are expected to dress in a manner appropriate to the occasion.  Boys are to wear dress slacks, dress shirts, and dress shoes.  Girls are to wear appropriate dresses or skirts and dress shoes.  No shorts, jeans, gym shoes, tennis shoes, flip-flops, or boots will be allowed.  Graduates will not be allowed to bring bags or purses of any kind into the graduation area.  Again, all students are expected to wear dress shoes. 

 

Conduct
The Commencement ceremony will honor the Class of 2012.  It should reflect the high standards that characterize the class and Mapletown Junior-Senior High School.  Accordingly, graduates and their guests are expected to conduct themselves in a dignified and solemn matter that reflects the significance of the occasion.

Commencement Photos
Lifetouch will take pictures of graduating seniors as they receive their diplomas on the side of the stage that they exit.  Seniors will turn towards the camera, pause for a few seconds, then exit.  Lifetouch has agreed to photograph each graduate.  The photographer will have flyers and business cards with the website and password to access the photos.  The photos will be available on the website after Monday, June 4, 2012 and remain online for 6 months.  This service will enable all parents to have a picture of their graduate while providing a dignified atmosphere during the ceremony.  Parents are encouraged to relax in their seats and limit their personal picture taking to before or after the presentation of diplomas.  If you have any additional questions regarding Commencement Photos please contact Lifetouch at www.lifetouchevents.com or call 1-800-377-0175.


Diplomas

Seniors will receive their diploma holder during the Commencement ceremony.  Seniors will then receive their diploma after they check out with the secretary in the cafeteria.
